Methodism Today

Pastor Chris' thoughts about Jesus, culture, and our Wesleyan tradition

“He doesn’t let the grass grow under his feet.” That was the best compliment I’ve ever received from a parishioner. Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope that you find the topics and discussions to be intriguing and worth your time. This project is an extension of my ministry and an outpouring of my faith in which I hope to use to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ while attempting to ensure that the grass never does grow under my feet – for an idle faith is a faith without value (James 2:20).

My name is Chris Hardy and I am a United Methodist pastor in the Eastern Pennsylvania Annual Conference, currently appointed to First United Methodist Church (Bangor). I’ve also served at Diamond UMC (Hazleton, PA) and at Faith UMC as a student pastor (Stroudsburg). I received my Master of Divinity degree from Drew Theological School and my Bachelor of Arts, majoring in criminology and minoring in sociology, from Wilkes University.

I am married to the love of my life and my best friend, Teisha, and we are blessed to have three beautiful children. In my previous career I served as a law enforcement officer, first with the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department and then with the City of Wilkes-Barre Police Department.

In my spare time I enjoy watching sports, documentaries, and movies, and reading a variety of books. I also love being outdoors, especially camping, hiking the trails or enjoying a calm paddle in the kayak with my family. We also love revving up the family rivalry by playing classic board games or a round on the miniature golf course. Basically, any time spent with my family is time well spent.

Thanks again for checking out my blog, I hope you enjoy. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
